Switching in polarization of M1 to M2 macrophages was evidenced by an increase in markers M2, including arginase-1 (arg1) and early growth response protein 2 (Egr2), in the lungs of mice infected with the LD100. Part I investigate the differences in the cultural response induced in murine and Human PCT comes from a healthy liver, kidneys and intestines.

Part II depicts the molecular processes in cultured Human PCT generated from the diseased liver, kidney and ileum. We show that culture is associated with extensive transcriptional changes and PCT universal influence on organ and two species with triggers an inflammatory response and fibrosis associated extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. All PCT together with mRNA upregulation of IL – 11 and ECM-degrading enzyme matrix metalloproteinase-3 and MMP10.
